LOTS OF NEW WINE
What's been arriving at The

NEW - SPAIN – Just in from the Kingdom of Castille, tingling
whites from Vinedos de Nieva in Rueda and full-bodied, state-of-the-art reds
from Alvides in Ribera del Duero.
NEW - WHITE BURGUNDY - Classy Chassagne-Montrachet by the Jouard brothers,
the latest batch of peerless Puligny from Paul Pernot.
NEW - RED BURGUNDY –Freddy MugnierÕs magnificent Chambolle-Musigny

scoop up a few more cases of David ReynaudÕs fabulous Crozes-Hermitage. The
first batch disappeared very quickly. From further south, CorianconÕs
Vinsobres. Pascal ChalonÕs Cotes-du-Rhone Villages, which he makes in his
GrannyÕs garage.
NEW - ITALY- WeÕve gone all Tuscan, following our trip last year.
Boscarelli from Montepulciano, Il Colle and Canalicchio di Sopra from
Montalcino, DreolinoÕs Chianti Rufina and PratesiÕs Carmignano from near
Florence, Chianti Classico by Gatteschi and La Marcellina.
NEW - CALIFORNIA We are now fully loaded with Woodenhead, Hafner, White
Rock, Renard, Guy Davis and new youngsters on the block, Anthill Farms.
NEW - GERMANY – As usual, too many to list here! Asbach-Kretschmar,
Prinz and the blue-eyed star Eva Fricke from the Rheingau. Schafer-Frohlich and
Jakob Schneider (Junior) from the Nahe. EveryoneÕs loving the bright dry

MEET THE STAFF
David Motion continues to juggle his parallel careers in Wine and
Music. Pop Record Producer in the 80s, Composer for film, tv and commercials in
the 90s, David liked The Winery so much, he bought the shop in 1996. He has
also recently released new CDs in Electronica and Classical genres. Find out
more on DavidÕs Music site: www.davidmotion.com
Travelling extensively searching for new
wines, he also regularly appears in interviews, most recently Radio Essex
talking about Biodynamic wine and in London Lite and The Sun talking about New
Wave German wine. david@thewineryuk.com
Richard de Fleury went to New Zealand 12 years ago and came back with a
Kiwi accent and a Kiwi wife. The accent has since modified. You may have
noticed a tightening-up of grammar and punctuation in The WineryÕs written
output. As well as selling European wine to sceptical locals, Richard did a
stint as a Teacher of English and Drama - the perfect qualifications for Shop
Manager. richard@thewineryuk.com
Debbie Holt moved to London from San Francisco after experiencing
the Dot-com bubble from the inside. Back after her maternity leave, Debbie's
already formidable organisational powers have been honed further. Watch her
effortlessly answer the phone, re-stock the shelves and design a new Excel
sheet all at once! debbie@thewineryuk.com
It was Love,ÒIl AmoreÓ, that
brought Giorgio Parrino to England
from his home village south of Palermo in Sicily. We notice, coincidentally,
that most of the young men of the village are now living in south London.
Although his father makes wine, Giorgio is quite clear that it's nothing we'd
want to drink. No disrespect meant to his father, of course. Giorgio should
know what good wine is, as he studied winemaking and viticulture in some
leading estates in Sicily and Puglia. giorgio@thewineryuk.com
David Clawson has gradually transitioned from a job in The City to
The Winery. Originally from Seattle (surprisingly, he is no coffee lover),
David got his MBA in London, had a spell in Paris while his wife was working
there. David, or ÒDCÓ as we sometimes call him to distinguish him from the
other David, is mega-fit and thinks nothing of jogging miles to and from the
shop. David is particularly keen on wines from the Loire Valley and ÒNatural
WineÓ. david.clawson@thewineryuk.com
Ai Watanabe moved from Yakuza town Osaka to a Japanese boarding school
in London at the age of 15 and never went back. After several years working
with autistic children she moved into wine and joins us from a stint with Berry
Brothers. She runs her own wine blog. If you read Japanese, ask her for the
link! ai@thewineryuk.com
